| ITANAGAR, Jan 27 :- The Arunachal Pradesh Police(APP) become the first Police organisation in North Eastern region to have been facilited with e-governce.
With the formal launching of a website at the conference hall of its state HQs here this evening, APP has gone a step ahead in its effort to prevent and control increasing cases of crime, robbery, dacoity, burglary, theft etc in the state and to ensure protection of people's life and property. Any one facing posible threat to life may immediately communicate with the state Police HQs through the website (htpp://www.arunpol.nic.in) and can also lodge complaints unheeded by local police stations. The website came into being within a short period of time with the wholehearted cooperation of the NIC, Arunachal Pradesh state unit.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister of Home and DoTC, L. Wanglat exhorted the state police to serve the people. He assured them of all possible help from the BJP-led UDF Govt.
While announcing that a special package is to be given to the APP for modernisation of the force and their recreation facilities before or after the Lok Sabha elections, the Home Minister also sanctioned an amount of Rs.25,000 for its proposed get together function.
The Minister urged the Director General of Police (DGP) Suresh Roy, under whose initiative the website came into being, to educate all superintendents of police(SPs) and other high ranking officials on e-mail facilities and provide them with laptops. He also called for making the police website more informatives and interactive for the feneral public.
In his welcome address, DGP Roy stated that the launching of the website, a distant dream of police personnels has been fulfilled and it will make the 'men in uniform' more transparent and public-oriented. Expressing his confidence that "all good things will now come out", the DGP stated that it will educate all in management of the police department. He also expressed gratefulness toward the state govt for its early launching.
Roy further disclosed that a school for the wards of police personnels of the state is going to be opened during the current session.
Earlier, Deputy Inspector General of Police(West) M S Upadhye demonstrated all pros and cons of the website to all high ranking police officials present in the meeting. All can gather information regarding police related incidents, happenings etc, the DIGP informed.
The DIGP in his speech also revealed that the theft cases of motor vehicles in the twin capital towns of Itanagar and Naharlagun has been marginally reduced. Only three such cases has been reported in the capital complex during the last 3-4 months, he added.
Congratulating the APP for having got the website, D.K. Devnath, the state information office of NIC, Itanagar stated that it has brought about the force on the gate way to modern day world. |
